Geography – Crust & Inside of Earth

This material is part of the Montessori geology curriculum for the elementary level. Children in the primary level have basic exposure to geology through nomenclature work. Children in the elementary level begin formal study of geology by examining some of the processes involved in the shaping of the earth as we know it today, as well as the processes that have shaped the earth in the past. Crust of the Earth/Inside the Earth provides children with information about the earth’s crust composition, thickness, or temperature. It includes the following elements: The Inside of the Earth, The Inner Core, The Outer Core, The Mantle, The Crust of the Earth, The Moho, The Oceanic Crust, The Continental Crust. This material consists of 8 sets of three-part nomenclature cards that contain a description, a label, and a picture card for matching purposes. There is a wallchart representing all the parts together. The booklet serves as control for error for the nomenclature matching work.
