Description

This material is part of the Montessori geometry curriculum. In the primary level, children’s experience with geometry is sensorial. They survey 3 dimensional and 2 dimensional materials and are provided with the language. At the elementary level, children are introduced to the Geometry Classified Nomenclature, which provides the appropriate language to describe the concepts explored. The Geometry Nomenclature can be considered an activity of reading as well; the labels and definitions provide reading opportunities at semantic and syntactic levels. All the Geometry Classified Nomenclature is numbered sequentially and divided across the eight series into two levels of difficulty:
First Series A 1 – 4 Basic Concepts
Second Series B 5 – 23 Study of the Line
Third Series C 24 – 43 Study of the Angle
Fourth Series D 44 – 56 Study of Plane Figures
Fifth Series E 57 – 84 Study of the Triangle
Sixth Series F 85 – 141 Study of the Quadrilateral
Seventh Series G 142 – 158 Study of the Regular Polygon
Eighth Series H 159 – 176 Study of the Circle
