Description

This material is part of the Montessori geography curriculum for the elementary level. Children in mid-lower elementary years are introduced to Geography Classified Nomenclature. Layers of the Earth and Types of Clouds are introduced early in the curriculum. Children learn that when the heat of the sun warms up lakes, oceans, or any other bodies of water on the surface of the earth, water vapor rises into the atmosphere and then condenses in the form of clouds. Types of Clouds/Atmospheric Structure includes the following elements: Cumulus Clouds, Stratus Clouds, Stratocumulus Clouds,Cumulonimbus Clouds, Nimbostratus Clouds, Altocumulus Clouds, Altostratus Clouds, Cirrocumulus Clouds, Cirrus Clouds, Cirrostratus Clouds, the Troposphere, the Stratosphere, the Mesosphere, the Thermosphere, and the Exosphere. Types of Clouds/Atmospheric Structure Elementary consists of 10 sets of three-part nomenclature cards that contain a description, a label, and a picture card for matching purposes. There are two wallcharts representing all the parts together. The two booklets serve as control for error for the nomenclature matching work.
