Description

This material is part of the Language Arts curriculum for Early Childhood. Parts of a Flag helps children understand whole to parts relationships, which indirectly prepares for writing and reading. During the presentation, children are asked specific questions about the different parts of the flag. What parts of the flag flap in the wind? What part holds the entire flag up? The nomenclature of a flag is then introduced through a three period lesson. This exercise should also entice children into working with the flags of the world in geography. The material consists of 33 three-part cards, and covers the following types of clouds: flag, canton, field, hoist, heading, grommets, halyard, fly, staff, truck, and finial. The three-part nomenclature sets contain a picture, a label, and a control card for matching purposes.
