Description
This material is part of the Early Childhood Montessori language arts curriculum. The Montessori approach to early literacy consists of four series of incremental materials: The Pink Series, The Lilac Series, The Blue Series, and the Green Series. The Green Series contains phonogram words. “Phonogram Word Lists” is part of the Green Series.
The Green series is introduced through the 3 following incremental and concurrent steps:
1. Phonogram Picture Cards and Moveable Alphabet
2. Phonogram Pictures & Word Labels
3. Phonogram Word Lists
Children read six Word Lists that contain phonogram 6 words free of picture cues. This transition of reading with pictures cues to reading without picture cues helps develop fluency. The Green Reading Series contains the following phonograms: /ch/, /sh/, /th/, /ai/, /ee/, /ie/, /oa/, /ar/, /er/, /or/, /oy/, /ue/, /ue/, /ou/, /au/, /oo/, and /qu/. This reduced version of our Green Series works in parallel with the 16 Nienhuis Double Sandpaper Letters.
